I’m pleased to announce the forthcoming publication of my new book, SPARC: How to Build Sustainable Partnerships.
I’ve developed an exercise by which small business owners and nonprofit directors strengthen their respective organizations through the relationships they build with each other. I’ve dubbed the exercise with the acronym SPARC, the letters of which I flesh out in detail in the chapters of this book. The book is motivated by my observations of working in the nonprofit arena since 1989, and by my recent experiences starting, operating, and consulting with small businesses since 2012. I see a missed opportunity for mutual benefit when small businesses and local nonprofit organizations build partnerships that put a SPARC into organizations.
In my observation as both a small business owner and as president of small nonprofit organizations, nobody ever succeeds without the help of others. This reality flies in the face of conventional American wisdom and lore, where the heroes of our culture are rugged individualists whose singular leadership and perseverance result in massive success, wealth, and reputation. This book does not perpetuate that popular story.
Watch for more news about the book and how to bring SPARC to your community.
